To maintain its high operational and safety standards, SECL has laid out strict educational and certification requirements for each technical post. Note: The official cut-off date for determining eligibility, including age limit and validity of certifications, is April 8, 2026.
For Mining Sirdar
Candidates must have passed Matriculation or equivalent. Additionally, they must possess a Diploma (3 years) or Degree in Mining Engineering. Applicants must also hold a valid Mining Sirdarship Certificate of Competency, a valid Gas Testing Certificate, and a valid First Aid Certificate.
For Deputy Surveyor
Applicants require a Matriculation certificate along with a Degree or Diploma in Mining or Mine Surveying Engineering from a recognized institute. A mandatory requirement is the Surveyors' Certificate of Competency (SCC) granted under CMR 2017.
For Assistant Foreman (Electrical)
Candidates need to be Matriculates holding a minimum 3-year Diploma or a relevant higher qualification in Electrical Engineering from a government-recognized institute.
4. Salary Structure & Age Limit
Salary & Perks: Selected candidates will be placed in the Technical & Supervisory Grade-C category. They will be offered a highly attractive basic pay of Rs. 47,330.25 per month. In addition to this competitive basic pay, employees are entitled to other allowances such as Dearness Allowance (DA), attendance bonus, House Rent Allowance (HRA), and transport subsidy as per the National Coal Wage Agreement (NCWA).
Age Limit: The baseline age limit for all applicants is set between 18 and 30 years as of the cut-off date. Standard government age relaxations apply:
- SC/ST Candidates: 5 years of upper age relaxation.
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years of upper age relaxation.
- Ex-Servicemen and PwBDs: Varying relaxations based on the category (up to 15 years for SC/ST PwBD candidates).
5. The Selection Process (CBT Exam)
In line with modern recruitment directives, SECL has streamlined its selection methodology. There are no personal interviews! The selection consists entirely of a Computer Based Test (CBT), guaranteeing absolute transparency and purely merit-based selection.
- The CBT will feature an objective-type, multiple-choice question (MCQ) format.
- The paper will be provided bilingually in English and Hindi.
- Section A (80 Marks): Focuses on Technical and discipline-related knowledge specific to the applied post.
- Section B (20 Marks): Tests General Awareness, Aptitude, and specific knowledge regarding CIL and SECL.
- No Negative Marking: A huge relief for test-takers is the absence of negative marking. Each correct answer fetches one mark.
To qualify for the merit list, General/EWS candidates must score a minimum of 45 marks, OBC/ESM candidates need 40 marks, and SC/ST candidates need 35 marks.
6. Application Fees & How to Apply
Candidates belonging to the General (UR), OBC, and EWS categories are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of Rs. 1,180/- (including GST).
