TNPSC GROUP 2 EXAMS


Eligibility:

  • - The candidate must be an Indian citizen with valid citizenship.

  • - The minimum age limit is 18 and the maximum is 40.

  • - There is category wise age relaxation for this post.

  • - Graduation is must to apply for the posts. But for some higher posts, candidate must have additional and special qualification. The candidate should have passed 10th, 12th, UG and in some cases PG or additional qualification.

  • - If you are a final year student, your results must be out at the time of applying. You should mention your certificate number.

  • - The candidate must have a proficient knowledge in Tamil.


  • Vacancies:


The opening for the post depends on the vacancies. It differs each year according to the quota. The candidates are advised to look on the official website before applying to know the category-wise vacancies of the posts.


  • Group 2 posts:

For Group 2, there are two categories: Group 2 (Interview post) and Group 2A (Non- Interview post).

16. Supervisor of Industrial Co-operatives in the Industries and Commerce Department

19. Senior inspectors in Milk Production and Dairy Development Department

20. Senior Inspector of Co-Operative societies in the Department of Registrar of Co-operative Societies

21. Supervisor / Junior superintendent

22. Audit Assistant in Accounts Branch

  • Group 2 Salary


If you are appointed as any of the above-mentioned officers, then you not only get salary but also it includes various benefits and allowances. The current pay scale is based on 7th pay commission that ranges between Rs. 37,200 and Rs. 1,17,600.


EXAM PATTERN


1. Prelims:


The prelims exam is multiple-choice questions of 300 marks. The paper is a general studies paper and aptitude and mental ability test paper. The prelims exam syllabus for Group 2 exam is same as that of Group 1 prelims.

This exam has two sections: first section of general studies with 175 questions and the second section with 25 questions. The first part includes questions of degree standards and the second part of SSLC standard.

The syllabus of Group 2 Prelims is almost the same as that of Group 1 Prelims.


2. Main Exams:


After you qualify in the prelims, you are selected to appear for the TNPSC Group 2 main exams. This part contains 2 sections, 200 objective type questions for 300 marks. Like the main exam of TNPSC Group 1 exam, this exam is again descriptive type questions. The minimum mark to pass the exam is 90.

The syllabus for two sections of the Main exams is given below.


Part A:

Tamil to English translation – 50 marks (2 questions)

English to Tamil translation – 50 marks (2 questions)

Part B:

Precis writing – 40 marks (2 questions)

Comprehension – 40 marks (2 questions)

Hints Development – 40 marks (2 questions)

Essay Writing on Thirukkural – 40 marks (2 questions)

Letter Writing – 40 marks (2 questions)


Part A contains 100 marks out of which 25 marks is the minimum qualifying marks.


Part B contains 00 marks for which there is no minimum qualifying marks.


However, the passing mark for the Main exam is 90 marks.


There are only two parts of exams in the TNPSC Group 2 exams. But the selected candidates will have to appear for the interview, only after which they can be appointed and reported to duty. However, there is no interview for non-interview posts.


HOW TO APPLY?



First check your category wise vacancies. Then login to the official website www.tnspc.gov.in and apply online. The application fee for the preliminary exam is Rs. 125 and for the main exam is Rs. 100. After the examination, you can check on the answer key and then results. If you have applied for the interview posts and if you are selected, you have to appear for the interview. Counselling is conducted at the main office and candidates who are qualified are recruited to different posts across Tamil Nadu based on their choice as well as the vacancies of that area.
